At YMR Track Club we are lucky to work with some amazing ambassadors and exceptional athletes both at professional and amateur level. With any individual we choose to support, it is critical they share the same values and ethos as our brand. This includes dedication to excellence & improvement, care for one’s surroundings and a passion for sports! We can safely say that our newest brand ambassador Lina Strand embodies all of these traits so it was a no brainer to work with her and support her sporting career. But enough from us, we will let the new YMR Track Club Ambassador tell you a bit more about herself;

My name is Lina Strand and I am World Champion in orienteering.
I was born into the orienteering sport, with early memories of the regular competition weekend after weekend. The backpack that was packed at home, the car journey with the family, the car door that opening when we arrived and my sleepy eyes were either met by an early morning sun over a crisp meadow, or closed when they were met by heavy rain. The warm-up, to start, to once again challenge oneself to complete a race without mistakes. The look at the scoreboard and then the prize table after the competition, and all the meetings with new friends. That procedure has in many ways created who I am today. The competition and the development of my own performance ability to achieve new successes, now at world level. The love and humility towards nature and the opportunities for new human encounters that sport invites to!
I have competed in the national team since 2008 (first at junior level). I have continuously achieved success, but my career has also been marred by setbacks through tough injuries due to too high a total load. In 2017, I became world champion in sprint relay for the first time and also took several individual top 3 places at the World Cup. After my most determined effort so far, I took another step when in 2019, I took silver at the long-distance WC and gold in the relay. Now it has been Corona and I have not competed internationally since. However, my physical capacity is better than ever and my goals for the upcoming championships are realistically high: world champions. With love and drive for something, there is no deadline!
Why YMR Track Club?
YMR Track Club is a company that shares my values in sports. “We want to run today and tomorrow”. The choices I make today, how will it affect me and my surroundings in the future? Yes, sports break barriers, but for individual development I have learned over the years that no training session is so important if it has negative consequences going forward. It is the work over time that provides the conditions for the great results and a sustainable practice provides greater opportunities for new experiences to create more memories!
I admire YMR Track Club’s love of history and the homeland. It reminds me to look back on the early years in those different arable lands, where the love of orientation was created. We have to think ahead, but it is when we stop and look back that we are reminded of our core values. When it comes to YMR’s clothes, I like the style, functionality and lightness. The tights that are thin and feather-light, but without pressing against the stomach. Finally! I know they are made of love for the local, love for running and love for the future. This is something I am more than happy to cherish and represent, and thus want to encourage you to make choices to train sustainably from several perspectives!
