This June, “The Sun Run” will be launched, a unique collaboration between YMR Track Club and Karhu. Together, they release a limited collection and carry out the Sun Run Event, which was last held in 1987.
Over 30 years ago, the Sun Run was held. The race that took place under the midnight sun from northern Finland to Sweden has inspired the new collaboration. Together, YMR Track Club and Karhu release a collection designed and knitted in Sweden. Karhu is also releasing a running shoe that is part of the Sun Run collection. The collection is a limited edition that will go on sale in mid-June.
“Sun Run is a tribute to what we believe running is all about; Fellowship, joy and exploration. With YMR Track Club’s and Karhus’ Nordic heritage and a common view of design and functionality, we have created a collection that is both functional and stylish that is something out of the ordinary ”
– Peter Häggström, Founde & CEO of YMR Track Club
“This year’s Sun Run event is rooted in a historical race Karhu was a part of over 30 years ago. We used the original event to reimagine running through Lapland at night which is going to be a remarkable experience. Since the original route ran from Sweden into Finland, a collaboration with YMR Track Club made perfect sense. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the summer solstice than sharing midnight miles with Swedish friends”
– Jordan Kinley, Global Running Manager, for Karhu
In June, the Sun Run race from northern Finland to Sweden will also be held. It will be with limited numbers given the pandemic restrictions. A name which stands out among the participants is world famous runner and Swedish record holder Mustafa “Musse” Mohamed. The race will be available to follow on ymrtrackclub.com and karhu.com where the collection will also be sold.
