With less than 1 week to go until the Sun Run 2021 event takes place and the new collection drops, we thought that we should introduce you to some of the team that will be running under the midnight sun in Finland! Here are some profiles for the key team members taking part in the event from YMR Track Club and Karhu:
Team YMR Track Club
Mustafa ‘Musse’ Mohamed
Running legend! 4th at the World Championships in the 3000 meter hurdles, Swedish record holder on the same distance and in the marathon. Won his first Swedish Championship medal 23 years ago and is still a world class runner. Enormous experience and in great shape. The rest of our team will have to work hard to hang on to Musse’s pace. Will contribute with many wonderful running memories from a long career.
CEO and founder of Urban Tribes. Former national team runner. Lisa was originally a tennis player at the University of Hawaii, but after joining a running session with the school’s cross-country team, she switched to running. In 2008, she set the Swedish record for 5 km road running with 15:41. She ran at 33:20 on 10 km road and has fast records in everything from 1500 meters up to the marathon. Awesome coach who will guide us through the distances.
Vilavivon “Villa” Hagman:
YMR Track Club we have hung out with this wonderful Gothenburger for a number of years now. With a great sense of retro sports fashion, she is both a good runner, roller skater and model for YMR Track Club! Villa will contribute with lots of laughter and hopefully some singing by the campfire.
Daniel is perhaps Sweden’s most recognized fashion journalist. He has made a name for himself in fashion around the world and is today editor-in-chief of both Café Magazine and King. He has a great interest in running and runs a number of miles every week. With his eye for fashion, he becomes our style icon on the journey.
Zakarias is a former world class wrestler. In 2015, he surprised everyone and won the bronze in the World Championships in Las Vegas. Nowadays he works for the Swedish Wrestling Association and like many other wrestlers he has a great physique. Zakarias will add a lot to the group through his great knowledge in fitness training.
Peter Häggström Lindecrantz
Peter is the CEO and founder of YMR Track Club. As a former athlete with a personal record of 807 cm in the long jump and 10.30 in the 100 meters, he is more explosive than enduring even though he dreams of being the best at running long distances. Peter is our coordinator on site who makes sure that we do not get lost and that everything flows as it should.
A history teacher and long-distance runner from Rovaniemi, Lapland (Finland). The sport has always played an important part in his life as both his father and grandfather were runners, and he sees running as part of his legacy. Ossi ran his first race at age 6 and has been hooked ever since.
Training in the Arctic Circle is quite challenging as running in snow, ice, and cold temperatures is not easy. The long dark winters are without sunlight which makes it difficult to find the motivation to lace up one’s shoes. However, the mental courage and sisu ensures Ossi is able to train year-round.
Ossi’s best running accomplishments include a 10th place finish at the Finnish Marathon Championships in 2020. He looks to lower his personal best of 2:24:04 to sub-2:30 in the coming years and he hopes to one day run all of the major marathons (only Tokyo, Boston, and Berlin remain). Since there were no major marathons this spring, Ossi challenged himself by running a 50k and broke the Finnish all-time best in 3:09:41.
Karhu global running manager, resides in Salem, Massachusetts (USA) where you can find him logging most of his miles in Karhu prototypes. A running aficionado and student of the sport, Jordan has been running for as long as he can remember and started competing at youth track and cross-country events. Having competed in high school, college, and on the roads for a decade post graduation, Jordan currently finds helping others reach their race goals more enjoyable than racing for himself.
Jordan looks forward to being back in Finland and experiencing a Lapland summer for the first time. His travels have taken him around the world and he finds running is the best way to explore new places while visiting. Even though it has been nearly a decade since he ran his marathon personal best of 2.24.46, he still finds it important to make new running friends wherever he goes.
