Day 2 in beautiful Rovaniemi and the Sun has now joined us for the Sun Run Weekend! Looking to make the most of the weather, the team heads out early for the morning running session.
This morning was an opportunity for people to join the Sun Run digitally for a 7km run via the training app Sprintcrowd. The exclusive session was lead by Urban Tribes running coach Rubin McRae and joined by Musse as well as a few more members of the YMR team from here in Finland.
After the live session, the entire team from Karhu and YMR took a run by the waterfront close to downtown Rovaniemi. With a clue sky and bright summer sunshine, the view of Jätkänkynttilä bridge was a great backdrop for our morning run.
After a short break back at base camp and a quick power nap for a few members of the team, we headed back out for our evening session. This run would be predominantly uphill, finishing at a scenic overlook of Rovaniemi’s vast wilderness. With each day and each running session, the sense of camaraderie is noticeably growing as we form new bonds within the team.
As the teams reached the peak of their route, we took the opportunity to pause and take in our surroundings (and take some headshots).
Back down the hill and back to camp where we enjoyed some breathtaking Finnish cuisine prepared by our chef Sebastian. With a full stomach and tired legs, the team spent the evening gathered around the camp fire, exchanging stories of pats track meets & competitions. In keeping with Finnish traditions, many of the team took an evening sauna followed by another swim in the river to cool off.
Another day of hard running, great food and great company completed. Now onto our final day of the Sun Run Weekend!
