GUIDE TO RUNNING JACKETS
LÄS MER
The final week is here and the finish line is in site. This week, we conclude a summer of training with Samsung Galaxy Watch. Wrapping up with one more bonus session as with lock in our final preparations for Stockholm Half Marathon.
To ease your last week of mental and physical preparations, we have some short tips from our Head Coach Mattias. Here are some tips on how to approach the days leading up to the race, as well as a few things to keep in mind during the race itself.
The training is done, so the main focus now should be on feeling good and giving your body a little extra of everything: rest, food, and recovery.
Keep your body active with light, short workouts. Some people, myself included, like to jog for 15-20 minutes the day before the race. It helps me feel alert and ready on race day. Others prefer to rest completely the day before. Whatever you choose, the key is to keep your training very light in the days leading up to the race.
Eat a bit more than usual, and stick to the foods you're accustomed to. On race day, avoid overly fatty foods or anything high in fibre.
During the race, you don't need to eat anything, but I recommend drinking sports drinks at each hydration station to replenish carbohydrates and electrolytes. You might also want to carry a gel to take towards the end of the race for a physical boost and something to look forward to mentally.
Stick to your plan, especially in the beginning. It’s easy to get stressed and start at too fast a pace. Stay calm, find your rhythm, and if you're having a good day, push hard toward the end of the race.
For those of you joining the preparation session on Tuesday, feel free to ask questions. For the rest, best of luck!
