YMR TRACK CLUB X KARHU

Going back to our running journal, a June memory that really stands out; Sun Run was a running experience out of the ordinary, where together with Karhu we completed a training camp and magical race together. The views, the local food, the community and not least the final race is a memory for life.

FROM ONE LAPLAND TO ANOTHER

During the bright June night, when the midnight sun hung low in the sky and cast its golden glow over the vast Lapland in northern Finland, the YMR Track Club together with Karhu created a running adventure that would be etched in the memory of all participants. The Sun Run, the race that took us from Lapland in Finland across the border to Lapland in Sweden, was more than just a physical challenge – it was a celebration of the beauty of nature, of community and of the joy of running.

THE STARTING POINT

We began our journey in Finland, where the still forest and sparkling lakes welcomed us with a silence broken only by the rhythmic tread of our feet. The wind lightly rustled through the pines and butterflies danced above the meadows, all while we moved forward with a shared determination and a sense of belonging.

OVER THE BRIDGE

As we approached the bridge that would take us over the border to Överkalix in Sweden, the landscape turned into a fairy tale of mountains and rivers, of reindeer grazing peacefully and of skies that never seemed to darken. We ran under an eternal sun, a symbol of endurance and hope, feeling each step bring us closer to our goal and each other.

FRIENDSHIP ACCROSS BOARDERS

The participants, a diverse group of runners from near and far, found strength and inspiration in each other's presence. Friendships were made and stories were shared, all while we fought our way through both fatigue and euphoria. Karhu and the YMR Track Club had created something magical – a race that was as much an inner journey as a physical achievement.

BACK TO SWEDEN

When we finally reached the goal in Sweden, it was with hearts filled with pride and joy. We had overcome both boundaries and ourselves, and created memories that would last forever. The Sun Run was more than a race; it was a tribute to the indomitable human spirit, to the wonders of nature and to the bonds that unite us all as runners and fellow human beings.
