The Västanede Merino Collection is finally complete! After a long process of careful design and production, we are excited to unveil our new collection to the world. Centred around our finest ever combination of fabrics, the most notable being the merino wool that has been designed & knitted here in Sweden’s Textile District.
Between the work shifts on the farm, Gunder ran intervals and distance shifts among bogs and slopes in the beautiful but also physically demanding Jämtland landscape in the northern parts of Sweden.
“REGARDLESS OF THE SEADSON, GUNDER WAS OUT INT HE WOODS AND TRAILS AND JUST LIKE THE FARM'S FORMER FARMHAND, HENRY JONSSON, GUNDER BECAME A WORLD CLASS RUNNER. At that time, the training was adapted to the environment and the season, which meant that there was also a lot of skiing for Gunder Hägg.”
Trail running was not in their vocabulary at the time, but it was already understood then that running in this kind of environment built both character and physique to run on the fast track during the summer months, where they even broke world records.

The sports club IK Ymer is present in the Sjuhärad district and was founded in 1917. The name derives from the giant Ymer in the Nordic mythology. He was the athlete that carried the world on his shoulders as he was born in the collision between ice and fire. The club has a massive history of sports achievements over the years with medals from Olympic Games and World Championships in different sports. The club has also been a successful running club over the years.

Regardless of the season, Gunder was out in the woods and trails and just like the farm’s former farmhand, Henry Jonsson, Gunder became a world class runner. At that time, the training was adapted to the environment and the season, which meant that there was also a lot of skiing for Gunder Hägg.
