GUIDE TO RUNNING JACKETS
READ MORE
Running during the autumn and winter season can be a fantastic experience. The crisp air makes it pleasant to breathe, and the trees showcase their most beautiful colors, providing a wonderfully refreshing feeling of being out in nature.
However, these seasons also demand an important adjustment – the right choice of clothing! For runner Mathias Stjernlöf, proper clothing is crucial to ensuring the experience, feeling, and training are optimal. Above all, a good running jacket is something he always prioritizes when the temperature drops.
Training has been going really well lately! After a warm and pleasant period, you can now feel the weather beginning to turn, with crisp mornings, less daylight, and colder winds.
This has meant starting to layer up more, with long tights, gloves, and a running cap or hat – and, of course, my favorite jacket for the season, the Änggården Men’s Windbreaker! I’ve been using the jacket frequently over the past month, and it has performed fantastically against wind, rain, cold, and bad weather.
Over the past three months, I’ve been focusing my training on the Valencia Marathon, which takes place on December 1st. It’s been inspiring to have a clear goal to focus on, and I’ve been able to stick to the training plan I’ve set, which makes me hopeful for the race.
My weekly mileage has been between 160–190 kilometers, and most of my runs are done outdoors, varying between asphalt, gravel, and the track to build endurance and strength for the race.
During autumn and winter, a good running jacket is essential for staying motivated and comfortable before, during, and after training sessions. I want the jacket to be flexible, lightweight, and comfortable so that I hardly feel like I’m wearing it.
It should protect against wind and rain while also allowing excess heat to escape. Additionally, visibility is important this time of year, so the jacket should have reflective details to increase my visibility during darker runs and periods.
A good running jacket can make all the difference for your autumn and winter runs. With the right features, you can protect yourself from the weather while making running more enjoyable and fun. I recommend investing in a jacket that combines lightness, weather protection, ventilation, and reflective details. And don’t forget the design – feeling comfortable in your clothes can really provide an extra motivational boost.
Investing in a quality running jacket is worth every penny. It can keep you warm, dry, and visible, which not only makes running safer but also more enjoyable. When running is more fun, it’s much easier to stay motivated, even when it’s cold and dark outside.
I think the Änggården Windbreaker from YMR Track Club is a fantastic running jacket. As I mentioned earlier, it’s incredibly light and flexible, which makes me feel free when running in it. The material is of very high quality and both windproof and water-repellent, keeping me dry and warm during runs.
The ventilation is also excellent – the mesh under the arms helps release excess heat, which is crucial for not overheating. I also appreciate that the hood is adjustable and easy to tuck away, and the reflective details are cleverly placed for optimal visibility in the dark. And as a bonus? It’s actually very stylish, I must say! It’s always nice to wear a sleek and well-thought-out jacket.
